International House, or I-House, is the international living and learning center at ISU. Since 1970, International House has provided an amazing array of social, educational, and cultural programs with international and American students working together to promote cross-cultural understanding. Read about I-House objectives.
International House is located in Manchester Hall and is conveniently located on the main ISU campus.
It is a "Co-educational Residence Hall," which means that both males and females live there. Students can share a room with one (or more) other person of the same gender. There are also a few single rooms and suites available.
Rooms are furnished with built-in desks, beds, closets and a small set of bureau drawers.
International House is open to American and international undergraduate and graduate students who have a sincere commitment to live and learn together in a multicultural environment. I-House is also home to students majoring in Foreign Languages, Graduate, History, Honors, Political Science, Speech Pathology and Audiology and Student Nursing.
International House activities are organized by an International House Program staff and are open to all ISU students -- both international and American living on campus or off campus. Matthew Schwab is the I-House Coordinator. You may contact him at 438-1436. Matt works closely with three International Assistants (IAs) who live in I-House. Students may also contact them at any time. The staff at I-House coordinate coss-cultural social and educational programs. Everyone is most welcome, including people who do not live in I-House or who live off campus. Some popular programs that occur regularly are trips to the Chicago Jazz Festival, Manchester Cup Soccer Tournament, trips to Amish Country and Springfield, Illinois, ice skating and a lot more!
All international students entering the University are encouraged to live in International House for at least one year. You can indicate this on an Enrollment, Housing and Transportation Form (which is part of the welcome packet that International Studies sends you). On the housing portion of the form, you should indicate whether you...
American students will be selected to live in International House on the basis of individual merit, interest in the purpose of International House, and a sincere desire to participate in its special programs - based on room availability.
