All new international students are expected to attend International Student Orientation (including students transferring from other US universities).
Please plan to arrive on campus by Monday, January 9, 2017 at the latest. Orientation will begin with a MANDATORY all-day event on January 10th. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided to all participants.
Orientation is an important, helpful, and fun way to begin your life at Illinois State. Students check-in with ISSS; meet other students; become acquainted with places and services on campus and in the community; go on shopping trips; open a bank account; and more. Students will also attend informational sessions on a variety of important topics to help them begin their studies successfully.
Just moved in and need some essentials? Join I-House Coordinator Matt Schwab for a trip to the local Walmart to pick up everything from bed sheets to bread. This will also be a great chance to learn about the local Connect Transit bus system.
The dining halls don't open until lunch, so join us for a free breakfast and socialize with new friends, while you wait for the campus tours to begin. Breakfast pastries and other goodies will be provided by International Talk Time (ITT). You may even run into friends you've met through the GlobalRedbirds facebook group!
Learn about important buildings on campus first hand!
Your IOT leader will take you on a tour of campus and point out important places and the services they provide. Come to I-House before this event and enjoy free breakfast, while you wait for the tour to begin!
Hop on the
bus system and get to know the Bloomington-Normal community! Refreshments will be served in I-House, while you wait for the next tour to leave. Your IOT leader will walk with you from I-House to the bus station, show you how to navigate the buses, and give you some great insights about the local area attractions. Find out where to shop, eat, and have fun!
The tour will end at Eastland Mall.
