The mission and related goals of the Office of International Studies and Programs contribute toward the internationalization and diversification goals of the University's Educating Illinois plan. OISP's contributions are made through the auspices of the following units: Study Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services, International House, and Management Development International.
International House provides a structure for international student community development and intercultural education. Through I-House programs, students can learn about different cultures and issues from all over the world, or share their own cultural background with the University community. International and American students also have the opportunity to share living and learning space in the International House TLLC floors in Manchester Hall.
As the central supporting place for international students and scholars at Illinois State University, this unit provides a wide range of services that serve the unique needs of this constituency, encompassing personal, social, academic, and immigration issues. In addition, this unit provides immigration support for departmental offices who hire international students and scholars.
Management Development International provides professional development training programs to working professionals from overseas public, nonprofit, and private organizations. MDI offers training programs, both on-campus and abroad, designed to develop the technical and administrative skills of managers in the private and public sectors throughout Asia, Africa, Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, and other developing regions of the world.
Study Abroad coordinates overseas study programs for students. In addition to guiding students through the process of choosing and participating in a study abroad program, this unit also assists faculty interested in establishing study abroad programs.
