Other experiences: I have volunteered in a project serving at-risk youth in Rio de Janeiro (2007). I have experimented with international service learning. With my students, I created a web site called Global Children Outreach (www.globalchildrenoutreach.ilstu.edu). I submitted a grant to have an international conference focused on children in street situations (not funded, but identified many potential global collaborators). Membership in the American Sociological Association's section on Global and Transnational Sociology. Membership in the International Sociological Association. Have taught several sociology courses with international content: Children in Global Perspective, Marriage and Family (from a global perspective), and Contemporary Social Problems from Global Perspective.
