OISP facilitates numerous International Linkages across all continents; arranges for hundreds of Illinois State students to participate in study abroad programs; serves international students and visiting scholars; and sponsors programs that provide professional development through seminars and research activities. ISU's International Seminar Series is pleased to welcome Professor Gina Louise Hunter from Illinois State's Department of Sociology, and Professor Eros DeSouza from ISU's Department of Psychology, as they present, "American Students Encounter Race in Southern Brazil: Reflections from a Summer Study Abroad Experience" on Wednesday, February 1 from Noon to 1 p.m. in the 1st Floor West Lounge of the Bone Student Center. Every Wednesday experts from a variety of fields gather to present on current global issues. Free pizza and beverages are also provided!

- WELCOME new international students! We hope you are settling into your ISU home away from home. If you missed the orientation programming offered during the week of January 9, please contact Kayla Carroll or Stephanie Gonzalez so that you may complete the immigration check in process.
- Illinois State University is also excited to welcome our first group of Science Without Borders exchange students from Brazil! ISU was recently selected as a host university for this new undergraduate program, sponsored by the Institute for International Education. Read about them in the Vidette!
- International students with the F-1 visa who will graduate in May 2012 and wish to work in the U.S. afterwards should meet with International Studies to apply for Optional Practical Training right away. There is a 3-month wait to receive work permission from the U.S. Government. Please contact Immigration Advisors Kayla Carroll or Stephanie Gonzalez for more information.
- ISU's International House presented an exciting Gala Night 2011! The annual event is a talent and variety show where ISU international students showcase their talents and cultures with dance, song, and other cultural arts.
